About Pottery Embassy
Pottery Embassy is a welcoming pottery studio located in Blenheim, New Zealand, offering pottery workshops, paint-your-own ceramics, studio memberships, pottery wheels, and handmade ceramics for the local community.
Built around creativity, connection, and slow craft, Pottery Embassy is designed to be a relaxed and inspiring space where people of all experience levels can enjoy working with clay. Whether you are completely new to pottery or continuing your ceramic journey, our studio encourages learning, experimentation, and creativity in a supportive environment.
We believe pottery should feel approachable, calming, and rewarding. Our classes and workshops focus on the joy of making by hand, allowing people to slow down, explore creativity, and create meaningful pieces at their own pace.
Alongside our pottery experiences, Pottery Embassy also offers curated handmade ceramics and pottery equipment, including pottery wheels and studio tools for makers and hobbyists.
From beginner pottery courses and open studio practice to hens parties, birthdays, team events, and creative gatherings, Pottery Embassy is a space where community and creativity come together.
At the heart of Pottery Embassy is a simple goal: to build an inclusive and welcoming clay community in Blenheim and the wider Marlborough region, where people can connect, create, and enjoy the process of making with their hands.
Here is my story
Hello, I’m Yasi/Yasmin. My journey with clay began in the quiet corners of childhood, shaped by the ancient curves of moon jars that once held my grandmother’s rice wine. Those vessels, steeped in memory and ritual, whispered stories of lineage and love, and in their presence, I found my first teachers.
Since then, clay has led me across continents. From the mist-veiled studios of Dublin to the fiery kilns and precision of Osaka, the vibrant streets of Delhi and Bangalore, the quiet rhythm of Singapore, the sunlit spaces of California, and the grounding energy of Christchurch, each place has left its imprint on my hands, shaping not only my craft, but also my voice as an artist and teacher.
In 2015, I rooted myself in Aotearoa. Here, I began weaving my heritage into form, blending ancestral echoes with quiet contemporary restraint. I built my pottery studio from the ground up in Christchurch and shared my practice through teaching and community workshops, nurturing others as clay once nurtured me. My studio was formerly known as Botpots Christchurch / Pottery Capital. In November 2024, I handed that space over to a former student and his mother, making way for a new chapter.
Due to the remote location of St Arnaud, Pottery Embassy originally operated through mobile pottery workshops across the region, bringing clay experiences into communities where access to creative spaces was limited.
As of June 1, 2026, I have finally found a permanent studio space and settled in Blenheim. Pottery Embassy Studio is now located at Shop 11/1 Market Street, Blenheim — directly in front of the Irish pub and backpackers building.
This new space marks the beginning of a long-held dream: creating a welcoming and grounded pottery studio where people can gather, slow down, create, and feel connected through the process of working with clay.
