Friday Continuing Pottery – Back to the Wheel

Have you done pottery with us before, taken a course somewhere else, or simply haven’t been on the wheel for a while?

Come back to clay and take a little trip down memory lane.

Our Friday Continuing Pottery class is designed for people who already have some pottery wheel experience and would like to get back into the rhythm of throwing, refresh their skills and enjoy making again.

You don’t need to remember everything. If centering feels a little rusty, you’ve forgotten how to pull your walls, or you can’t quite remember what comes next – that’s completely fine. We’ll help you find your way back.

Unlike our structured beginner course, there is no set weekly project. You’ll have more freedom to decide what you’d like to make and work at your own pace, with your tutor available to offer guidance, demonstrations and help when you need it.

Make mugs, bowls, planters, vases or revisit something you enjoyed making in a previous course. You can also use the five weeks to challenge yourself with a new form or simply spend time practising and improving your throwing.

The focus is on practice, confidence and enjoying your time at the wheel – without the pressure of having to produce something perfect.

Who Is This Class For?

This class is ideal if you:

• Have completed a pottery wheel course with Pottery Embassy

• Have learned wheel throwing at another pottery studio

• Haven’t done pottery for a while and would love to come back

• Know the basic process but would like some guidance and a refresher

• Want regular wheel time to practise and improve

• Prefer working on your own ideas rather than following a structured beginner programme

You don't need to be an advanced potter. You just need to have some previous experience on the pottery wheel.

A Continuing Class

This isn't a one-off course with a beginning and an end.

Friday pottery is designed to be ongoing. Classes run in 5-week blocks, and you're welcome to re-enrol for the next block and keep going.

Each block gives you another opportunity to practise, experiment, try something new and gradually develop your own way of working with clay.

Pottery is all about repetition. The more often you sit at the wheel, the more your hands begin to remember – even when your head has forgotten!
