Ceramics Instructors Wanted

Join the Pottery Embassy Team

Pottery Embassy is looking for passionate ceramics instructors to join our growing creative community.

We’re currently looking for instructors who are available to teach weekday evening classes and Saturday afternoon sessions.

If you love working with clay, enjoy sharing your knowledge and get a kick out of helping others discover pottery, we’d love to hear from you.

We welcome expressions of interest on an ongoing basis. Applications will be kept on file, and suitable applicants will be contacted as teaching opportunities and new classes become available.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for experienced ceramicists who have a strong understanding of clay and are confident sharing their skills with others.

Practical ceramics experience, technical knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for teaching are equally important to us.

Previous teaching experience is helpful, but not necessarily required.

Ideally, you'll be able to:

  • Demonstrate strong practical knowledge of working with clay

  • Confidently demonstrate wheel-throwing and/or hand-building techniques

  • Explain techniques clearly and in an approachable way

  • Adapt your teaching to different learning styles and experience levels

  • Create a welcoming, encouraging and inclusive class environment

  • Communicate confidently with students and the Pottery Embassy team

  • Help students set realistic goals and progress at their own pace

  • Keep students on track with drying, trimming, glazing and firing timelines

  • Introduce different techniques, projects and creative ideas

  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe shared studio

  • Encourage students to experiment while developing strong ceramic foundations

About the Teaching

Pottery Embassy classes are designed to give students an understanding of the ceramic process from clay through to finished work.

Beginner classes focus on developing strong foundations, including clay preparation, wheel throwing and/or hand-building, trimming, surface decoration, glazing and good studio practices.

As students become more experienced, instructors will help them refine their techniques, explore more challenging forms and begin developing their own projects and creative direction.

Our teaching style is hands-on, supportive and practical. We want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, experimenting and enjoying the process of learning pottery.

Availability

We are particularly looking for instructors available for:

Weekday evenings
Saturday afternoons

Teaching hours will depend on class schedules, enrolments and instructor availability.

Opportunities may include:

  • Beginner wheel-throwing courses

  • Hand-building classes

  • One-off pottery workshops

  • Private lessons

  • Specialty workshops

  • Intermediate and developing-potter classes

Interested?

We'd love to hear a little about you, your ceramics experience, the techniques you enjoy working with and what you'd be interested in teaching at Pottery Embassy.

Please get in touch with a brief introduction, your ceramics experience and your general availability.

If you have photos of your work, a portfolio or social media account showcasing your ceramics, you're also very welcome to include these with your application.

Come teach, create and help us grow the pottery community at Pottery Embassy.
